About

Welcome to my Dog Friendly Florida Blog:

It’s simple, “I love Florida and I love my dog.”

Follow us as we explore a dog friendly Florida.

About me:

Hi, my name is Christina Benjamin and I’m a transplant Floridian, originally from PA.  I love exploring everything about Florida with my husband Phil and our dog Vince.

I write YA novels and Vince has even inspired some of my fictional characters so I thought, why not give this dog a blog!?

So if you love dogs and want to know some fun placed to take them, and perhaps some placed to avoid, follow me and Vince on our Florida adventures!

About Vince:

Vince leapt into my heart the moment I met him.  He was a rescue that we adopted in Central Florida.  I knew nothing about him, other than he weighed one pound, his whole body wiggled when he wagged his tail and that there was no way I was leaving without him.  He rode 2 hours home with me the day I met him and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

We’re still not sure what mixture of breeds made our perfect little pup, but he’s 16 lbs with coarse black fur. He has shaggy tan paws and a silver wispy beard.  We’ve heard Yorkie, Terrier, Snauzer, Min-Pin, Chihuahua, etc.  All I know is he’s a far cry from the 5lb Chihuahua the lady at the pet rescue said he’d be, but I wouldn’t have him any other way.  He’s full of personality and has filled the last five years of our lives with so much love and laughter.

Vince is such a beloved part of our family that he often travels with us.  He’s a better traveler than I an, he packs light and never asks “are we there yet!”  If you’ve every traveled with a pet you know there is a wide variation on where they are accepted.  And then even when a place says its pet friendly, that description can be quite vague as well.

Not your doggie bag?:

I have to admit, before Vince I may have thought others bringing their dogs with them everywhere was strange, but now the paw’s on the other foot and Vince is absolutely part of my family.  In a perfect world my dog could go where I go.  So if you’re reading this thinking, “oh she’s one of those people,” you’re right, but that being said, if you’re not a dog owner or lover, you still might enjoy my reviews of some of the great restaurants, bars, hotels, beaches, and state parks we visit.
